| Provenance and Comments: | This painting was stored in a crate handed over to the French Musées Nationaux for safekeeping in 1939. The Germans seized it in August 1941. The painting was shipped to Nikolsburg on 5 May 1944. Léonce Bernheim died at Auschwitz in December 1944. As of 1947, there were no signs that the painting had been recovered by his widow, Renée. | ||||||||||||||||
