| Provenance and Comments: | Exchanged at the Fischer Gallery in Lucerne, Switzerland. [Goering Collection report, pp.129-130]. According to French restitution authorities, a painting by Courbet entitled "Ruisseau de roche" was restituted to the estate of Levy de Benzion on 4 October 1955. It is not clear whether or not this is the painting. But it is the only Courbet work listed as missing which bears a strong descriptive resemblance with the one that is mentioned in the Levy de Benzion restitution file as being returned in 1955. | ||||
