On March 10, 1942 the art dealer Gustav Rochlitz exchanged four ‘degenerate’ paintings by Matisse, Modigliani and Renoir, with a 16th century panel from Florence depicting the Holy Family. The paintings belonged to Paul Rosenberg, Rothschild and Michel Georges-Michel. |
