Provenance and Comments: |
The Munich Central Collecting Point (MCCP) records indicate that an 'asiatic head' ostensibly seized by the ERR was repatriated to France from Buxheim via Munich with no known ownership history. Its MCCP number--20241/4--matches with the number of the item ceded to Michel Georges-Michel by French restitution authorities on 12 July 1949. In an inventory of missing items submitted by Michel Georges-Michel to the CRA, there is a "tete nègre (Cote d'Ivoire?) entière, cou dentellé, collection Paul Guillaume." It is unclear whether these two items are the same. |
