Provenance and Comments: | This item was in a crate supplied by the Schenker company and stored at the German Embassy in Paris in the summer of 1940. This item bears the hallmark of the German Embassy seizure of the Seligmann property in July 1940. Although the Munich Central Collecting Point (MCCP) card indicates that this textile belonged to Arnold Seligmann, the French restitution records designate Jean Seligmann as the rightful heir despite the fact that he was assassinated by the Germans in December 1941. |
