| Provenance and Comments: | Returned to M.A. for sale. This work by Foujita was one of many found at the Jeu de Paume following the liberation of Paris in late August 1944. Despite the fact that there had been a claim filed by Schwob d'Hericourt, its legitimate owner, the French government placed this work in the collection of the Musee National d'Art Moderne (MNAM) in 1950. It eventually ended up at the Musee de Roubaix before being restituted to the family of Schwob d'Hericourt in March 1998. The painting had been listed as R 20 P in French museum inventories. | ||||||||||||
