| Provenance and Comments: | This item was in a crate at the Jeu de Paume in 1941. However, as concerns the repatriation of this piece of furniture to France, the primary sources collide. On the one hand, the MCCP card for R 289 indicates that this object entered the MCCP on 7 July 1945 and exited the MCCP on 2 March 1946. On the other hand, the crate inventory for the 17 October 1945 shipment to France from Neuschwanstein indicates that R 289 leaves Neuschwanstein on 17 October 1945. The mistake might have been made at the MCCP. | ||||||||||||||||
