| Provenance and Comments: | Taken to ERR headquarters at 54, Avenue d'Iena, for display. Returned to the Jeu de Paume from ERR headquarters at 54, Avenue d'Iena, on 15 April 1943. In November 1943, the painting by Ziem was eventually shipped to the ERR depot at Nikolsburg/Mikulow, in present-day Czech Republic. It is not known whether the painting was transferred to Alt-Aussee [Altaussee] in March 1945 or if it remained in the castle, parts of which burned to the ground on 22 April 1945 during heavy ground fighting between Soviet and German troops. | ||||
