Provenance and Comments: | Although the ERR card indicates that there were 4 etchings by Cagli which were removed from Peter Watson's apartment, Watson's own inventory mentions a painting while the French restitution list mentions a drawing being restituted. The painting on the Watson inventory is entitled "Three Musicians" and dated 1939. A handwritten R next to it indicates that it was restituted. Hence, it might be a mistaken description of the medium. There are no descriptions for the four works on paper. Initially set aside to be returned to M. A. for sale. Eventually slated for transport to Nikolsburg on 1 August 1944. However, the train never left Paris |
