| Provenance and Comments: | Dr. Tomforde inventoried this item on 7 September 1942. After careful review of documents submitted by Henry Kapferer to the French restitution authorities, we conclude that there is no Picasso painting that Kapferer claimed as plundered during the German occupation of France. Hence it is probable that the ERR comingled a looted Picasso painting with the Kapferer painting. If so, the true owner of this painting remains unknown. | ||||
