Collection: | (Jac) Paris-Maurice Wolf Jacobson, a British national of Jewish descent, is most likely the owner of the JAC collection, as attested by the Devisenschutzkommando seizure of his paintings at the Westminster Foreign Bank, Ltd., in Paris, in July 1941. Provenance and Comments: | According to Mr. Jacobson's widow, he had placed this and two other paintings in a safe-deposit box on 15 July 1939, the contents of which were eventually seized by the ERR. However, Dr. Schiedlausky's inventory points to the presence of this painting at the Chateau de Chambord at the time of its removal. |
