| Provenance and Comments: | This painting was attributed to an artist named "Loutine". There is no evidence of an artist by that name. We propose that this is the misspelled name of Soutine, which would make more sense, in view of the fact that many Jewish collectors in the Paris region owned works by Soutine prior to 1940. The painting was placed on the 1 August 1944 train to Nikolsburg and was recovered by the French government. |
