Provenance and Comments: | This work on paper was found in its crate at the Louvre when Paris was liberated in August 1944. This work was identified as a "sanguine" by Boucher. It was restituted to the Lindon [Lindenbaum] family 18 July 1946 and sold at Galliéra on 9 June 1964. It is now in the collection of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, with no attribution in its provenance to former Lindenbaum ownership, spoliation and recovery. |
