| Provenance and Comments: | These two items were found in the American Zone of Occupation of Germany as Erlanger property. They bear numbers which resemble numbers used by the ERR to label objects from the Alphonse Kann collection (KA). KA 979 and 977 in the Kann collection refer to lacquered objects of Persian origin. No one knows for sure if there is confusion on the part of the French authorities. For the record, Alphonse Kann's representatives recovered KA 979 and KA 977 in 1947. |
