Provenance and Comments: | Tausch 10. Sold by Rochlitz to J. Rosner, Paris. [Rochlitz report, p.8]. Based on recently obtained information, this painting by Sisley was in fact the property of the Benzion family and was restituted to Mrs. Levi de Benzion on 22 October 1947. Note: The French restitution release form makes no mention of any ERR number and simply lists the painting as being restituted on that date together with other objects. On July 9, 1941 the art dealer Gustav Rochlitz exchanged eighteen ‘degenerate’ paintings for one portrait by the artist Tizians, Portrait of a Young Lady. Most of the paintings belonged to Alfred Lindenbaum and Paul Rosenberg. There are no records as to whom the rest of the paintings belonged to. This version of "Le Pont de Moret" sold at Drouot on 19 December 2012 for close to 1.5 million euros. See Moret |
