Provenance and Comments: |
According to a 9 February 1953 letter from Raymond Lindon to Mr. Floorisone, in charge of art restitution matters for National Museums in France, a painting by Boudin depicting the beach at Trouville was located by Jacques Lindon in New York. It is not clear where the painting was located at the moment of its confiscation. It is unclear whether or not the Lindon family was able to recover the painting from the Knoedler gallery in New York. Floorisone informed Rose Valland in March 1953 that he had supported Mr. Lindon's request for Knoedler to return the painting to him. |
