Provenance and Comments: | The Gestapo stole this painting in Nice at the Credit Commercial de France on 28 April 1944 as part of a lot of 20 paintings deposited there by the Chaleyssin Gallery for Mrs. Zack [Zach], who, meanwhile, died at Auschwitz concentration camp. The painting was shipped to Nikolsburg on 1 August 1944 but the train was intercepted outside of Paris.Vladimir Raykis, the manager of the Galerie Zack in Paris, received the restituted painting. |
