| Provenance and Comments: | In early 1942, a Feldgendarmerie unit delivered more than 700 medals to the ERR staff at the Jeu de Paume. These coins were inventoried separately as UNB 101/. Each medal was described in detail. The following year, 230 medals were removed, crated and sent out as part of crate UNB 194, which leaves us to presume that the medals were closely examined and a decision was made to separate a third of the haul. These items were transferred to the American military occupation authorities on 24 October 1945. |
