| Provenance and Comments: | Postwar French authorities noted that this painting had been stolen by the ERR on 17 November 1942. However, there are no notations on the ERR card to that effect. Moreover, as an UNB object, it is unlikely that it would have been confiscated so late since all UNB objects were confiscated between October 1940 and mid-1941. Considered for possible exchange. According to the MCCP card, UNB 148 is also referred to as Si 2. That is an indication that it might have belonged to Hugo Simon. Other items tagged as Si followed by a number--an old designation for Hugo Simon's confiscated collection--confirm this possibility. | ||||||||
