| Provenance and Comments: | The presence at the Jeu de Paume of this chest belonging to one of the Seligmann brothers is somewhat unusual. It is unclear to whom it belonged exactly, but, in view of the arrest and execution of Jean Arnold Seligmann in 1941 due to his many trips to Switzerland and alleged anti-Nazi activities, one might presume that there is a link between him and this chest in view of the presence in it of Swiss currency. |
