Provenance and Comments: | According to the ERR inventory, three of these items were placed on the train to Nikolsburg of 1 August 1944 which never left Paris. Apparently two of them were restituted to Paul Rosenberg. The inventory of works returned to Paul Rosenberg which is dated 14 September 1945 includes two items designated as 107. The description is the same for both items: "reproduction pour le tricorne". Le Tricorne was a pamphlet produced by Picasso and published by Paul Rosenberg in 1920. Also, it alludes to the backdrop of an opera entitled aptly Le Tricorne performed in 1919. |
