Provenance and Comments: | Although this item is listed as belonging to the estate of Robert de Rothschild, Minka Strauss also lists this "sanguine" by Jean-Baptiste Leprince as belonging to her and which she stored at the Rothschild-owned Chateau de Reux, by Pont-l'Eveque, for safekeeping before the arrival of the Germans in France. This work by Leprince was restituted to Alain and Elie de Rothschild. |
