Provenance and Comments: | Mrs. Jules Strauss' belongings were seized by the ERR at the 'garde-meubles Tailleur Fils' on 7 July 1942. In December 1950, the French Museums' "Commission de Choix" voted to incorporate this painting into French museum collections "because they had not heard from Mrs. Strauss." By February 1951, there was a change of heart. The Commission voted in favor of restitution. Interestingly, 6 voted for restitution while 4 commission members abstained. |
