Provenance and Comments: | According to the ERR inventory, this painting was slated to leave for Nikolsburg on 1 August 1944. The train carrying this and hundreds of other looted works was intercepted outside Aulnay sous Bois by the French resistance and returned to Paris. After the Liberation of Paris, this painting together with thousands of others from Jewish collections was sold at wholesale prices to dealers and collectors alike. It ended up in Israel at the Ein Harod Museum. |
