Provenance and Comments: | This painting was removed from a safe in the name of Manfred Eber at the Banque de Bruxelles in the presence of Inspector Reinke, Group XII of the DSK, and Dr. Muchow of the ERR Arbeitsgruppe Belgien. This painting was owned in co-ownership by Mr. Lyndhurst and Irma van Gelder who put in a claim for the work when she found out that the ERR had seized it. Mrs. van Gelder had extensive contacts with the cultural officers of the German military occupation of Belgium and the Linz museum staff. There are also indications that this painting was recommended to be assigned to the Linz museum according to a note drafted by Herr von Ingram of the ERR on 22 September 1943. |
