Provenance and Comments: Tausch 16: On May 14, 1942 the art dealer Dr. von Frey, Paris exchanged three degenerate paintings by Picasso and Renoir with two paintings, by Karl Blechen and Makart. The painting was restituted to Paul Rosenberg in March 1947. It was auctioned by a "private collector" at Christie's New York on 6 November 2007. Interestingly, the Christie's provenance makes no mention of the fact that the painting had been subject to an exchange during WWII after its confiscation.
