Provenance and Comments: | This item was in a crate supplied by the Schenker company and stored at the German Embassy in Paris in the summer of 1940. Germain Seligmann, president of Jacques Seligmann & Co., NY, acquired this object as part of a transaction between his firm and the Paris firm of Jacques Seligmann et Cie. in February 1940. According to French restitution records, René Fulda received the item on behalf of Jean A. Seligmann, who was executed by the Germans in December 1941. |
