Based on the available documentation, it is difficult to link this painting to Georges Bernheim. On 11 December 1940, the GFP picked up 20 objects from Georges Bernheim's storage at 3, rue Dosne, and transferred them to the ERR. This work did not figure on the list, nor does it figure in Georges Bernheim's available restitution records. However, the ERR inventory for Gal. Bernst. clearly indicates that its address is 3, rue Dosne, which is Georges Bernheim's address. Hence, until further notice, Gal Berns. is an extension of Georges Bernheim's collection. |
